How to Be Happier
Happiness is a common term to all, but can be defined or understood in a variety of ways. Increasing happiness is a systematic undertaking of doing the things required to love yourself, your situation and others around you which in turn cause pleasant feelings. People often misunderstand happiness as a state which should be there for no good reason, and if it’s not they feel as if something is wrong. Many define happiness as a choice; being content is the more desirable and longer lasting state and typically has to do with how aligned you are with your goals.
Solution:
Mindfulness is one of the most important tools someone can understand to improve their state of being. In becoming more aware of the present moment, we can more easily shift to emotions of happiness even when challenging stimuli arise. Meditation provides the groundwork to accept things as they are and then change them if one would like to, thus providing for an increased sense of of control over our own lives. In consciously steering our lives in a direction we want, we naturally will be content and thus experience happiness more regularly.
