What is Trauma?

Trauma is an emotional response to a terrible event like a serious injury, death to a close relative, sexual assault, natural disaster or major accident. Although directly after the event shock and denial are common - longer term repercussions can can stay with people in the form of unpredictable feelings or emotions, difficulty in relationships, perpetual feelings of worthlessness or sadness and even physical effects like headaches.

Solution:

Trauma and PTSD can come in a wide variety of forms and thus does not have a “one size fits all” solution, however, mindfulness is a huge asset for trauma survivors. Mindfulness and meditation practice enhance the present moment awareness and increase compassion for both self and others, which in turn strengthens a person’s ability process stimuli in a healthy manner.
